Twins are truly a wonderful adventure. Many a times I have been asked what is the hardest part about having twins and I just sit there thinking, "you mean besides that there are two," well I am here to put all rumors to rest.
The hardest and most frustrating thing about having twins is, by a landslide, the public. You have twins and suddenly your the one woman circus with a juggling act and all. Literally, crowds of people will come at you screaming, "Oh my god twins, they're so cute," or "oh, you poor dear." I would not exactly call this behavior polite by any means. I come from a very non-social family so these unwarranted social interactions are like poison to my skin. Really, I go to the mall and I come back with blisters.
I would have to say the funniest thing I am constantly asked about the twins is if they are identical......they are boy girl twins....they don't even look identical. I am often tempted to pull down their pants and, well, you get my meaning I won't got into detail.
The weird thing is that all of this strange behavior starts before you even have the twins. Maybe this is something that happens to all pregnant woman but I felt as if everyone but me was born with a sixth sense that somehow informed them I was pregnant with twins. (However, the size of my belly may have been a huge hint.) Apparently when your pregnant the rule of personal space goes flying out the window and is replaced with public molestation of your belly. I believe once a man even came up to me and put his face on my belly wanting to feel the babies kick....that is probably in my top ten most uncomfortable moments.
Knowing that there are thousands of other mothers of twins out there, what are your own personal experiences with the public and your twins? Or for all the other Mothers out there what was your biggest frustration of being a new Mom or just a Mom in general? Feel free to comment.
