This morning when I went to place my son over the gate to his play area I found that I was covered in poop...to the point that it was dripping down onto my pants... After getting us both cleaned up and laughing hysterically for a few short minutes I could not help but think that one can never know when "poop is gonna start flyin'."
This week has not been a particularly good one, I have spent the majority of it sick in bed with an on-again-off-again fever and a terrible sore throat. It feels as if I have been dealt a lot of "poop" this week. I am sure a lot of Mothers, especially those with multiples, can relate when I say: when the poop starts flyin', try not to panic.
I have a bad habit of panicking when things get....sticky...but trust me when I say that panicking will only make things worse. And this advice does not just apply to when your toddlers diaper explodes all over your chest, it applies to everyday stresses. When the poop starts flyin', just sit, keep a level head and think about what you are going to do next. Hopefully, this will prevent you from making rash decisions just as I used to do. Not to mention, if it is actual poop that is stressing you then you definitely don't want your little ones to see you panic.
The sad reality is that "poop" is just a part of life, and we have to be prepared for it 24/7...no pun intended. Things are always bound to get stressful from time to time, but how you handle those stressful times will set a leading example for your children. I think too many parents forget that these days. So the next time you find yourself in a stressful situation, think on how you would want your children to act if they were following your example, because they are.
